Frequently Asked Questions

What is a structural integrity assessment?

A structural integrity assessment evaluates the current condition of an existing structure — its material properties, load-carrying capacity, and remaining service life. MEC conducts visual inspections, reviews original drawings, performs non-destructive testing (NDT) as required, and issues a written assessment report with recommendations for repair, strengthening, or continued use.

When should I commission a structural integrity assessment?

Structural integrity assessments are recommended when changing the use of a building, adding new loads (additional floors, heavy equipment, crane loads), after damage (fire, flood, impact, corrosion), or when a structure reaches 15–20 years of age and no recent structural review has been conducted.
